General Introduction and Purpose of Establishment
The Department of Pediatrics at Aksaray University Faculty of Medicine was established to provide education, research, and healthcare services related to the protection of child health and the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric diseases. Our department aims to ensure the complete physical, mental, and social well-being of all children from the neonatal period through adolescence.
Our mission is to train physicians who are committed to human values, capable of critical thinking and problem-solving, continuously renewing themselves both personally and professionally, inquisitive, environmentally conscious, respectful of diversity, and equipped with advanced knowledge and skills. These physicians should be able to apply evidence-based diagnostic and treatment methods, adhere to ethical principles, prioritize child- and family-centered care, show empathy, communicate effectively with colleagues and healthcare teams, embrace teamwork, and contribute to national and international medical communities with a contemporary, principled, and innovative approach.

Weekly Educational Schedule
Daily (08:15–08:45): Bedside case discussions with academic supervisors
Monday (13:00–14:00): Lectures for residents and interns
Thursday (13:00–14:00): Outpatient case presentations
Tuesday (13:00–16:00): Resident education meetings
Weekly and monthly journal clubs and seminars are held within each subspecialty division.
Research and Scientific Activities
Together with our academic staff and residents, we aim to strengthen research infrastructure, increase the quantity and quality of research, and cultivate a culture of scientific inquiry. Our department contributes to national and international scientific platforms by producing high-quality, ethically sound research.

In collaboration with Aksaray Training and Research Hospital, our department provides services in the following areas:
Pediatric Emergency Clinic: 24/7 service with triage-based evaluation and rapid trauma assessment
Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Clinic: Skin and prick tests, food challenge tests, and pulmonary function tests
Pediatric Cardiology Clinic: Holter monitoring, ECG, echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and interventional treatments
Pediatric Neurology Clinic: EEG, video EEG, EMG, and comprehensive neurological evaluations
Pediatric Nephrology Clinic: Diagnosis and treatment of nephrological and rheumatological conditions, peritoneal and hemodialysis
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: 12-bed unit offering full-spectrum intensive care services
General Pediatrics Clinic: Thorough evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in outpatient and inpatient settings
Neonatology Clinic: One of the region’s most advanced neonatal units offering head and whole-body cooling, nitric oxide therapy, and follow-up care for over 700 newborns annually
Social Pediatrics Clinic: Monitoring of healthy children from birth, growth and development tracking, screening tests, and vaccinations to promote overall well-being
