General Information
The Department of Neurology at Aksaray University Faculty of Medicine was established on January 10, 2020, with the appointment of Assist. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Güneş. Dr. Muzaffer Güneş received the title of Associate Professor on May 30, 2021, and continues his duties. Later, Assist. Prof. Dr. Oruç Şahin and Assist. Prof. Dr. Recep Dönmez joined the department, bringing the number of faculty members to three.
Educational Activities
Since 2021, theoretical and practical neurology training has been provided to Year III medical students at Aksaray University Faculty of Medicine.
Within Aksaray Training and Research Hospital, Year V and Year VI (intern doctor) students receive clinical internship training.
The training process enables students to improve their clinical practice skills and to learn the diagnosis and treatment processes of neurological diseases with a holistic perspective.
In 2024, with the establishment of the Neurology Clinic, the first residents were admitted, and specialty training began.
In our clinic, educational services, research activities, and healthcare services are carried out simultaneously.

2 Electromyography (EMG) Units
1 Electroencephalography (EEG) Unit
6 Neurology Outpatient Clinics
Through these units, the highest level of healthcare services are provided to the public.
Additionally, Assist. Prof. Dr. Recep Dönmez, with certification in “Endovascular thrombectomy and stent/angioplasty procedures of extra- and intracranial vessels in acute stroke treatment,” successfully performs these advanced interventional procedures—available only in certain centers in Türkiye—for eligible patients.
General Evaluation
The Department of Neurology at Aksaray University Faculty of Medicine, with its strong academic staff, modern educational approach, and qualified clinical services, continues to make significant contributions both to medical education and to the health of the local community.
